Mark Hines
Position: Secretary
Location: Wilmington, NC
Musical Background: I began my music career at age 7 when I joined the Wilmington
Boys' Choir (founded by my father, David Hines) and embraced the piano under the late Mary Eunice
Troy, an Albert Schweitzer award-winning instructor. In high school, I participated in both the
Advanced Chorus and Vocal Ensemble, making two trips to the NC Honors Chorus and three visits to the
NC All-State Chorus. I joined the Grains of Time in
1998, NCSU's only all-male a cappella group. During my time with the group, I served as President
for 2 years and led the group to ICCA finals in 2003. After college, I joined Warehouse, a now defunct
professional a cappella group, where I met Nick Lyons and Carl Taylor. We formed
Liquid 5th Productions almost immediately and
now produce professional & collegiate a cappella. I have been on the AACI Board since its inception
in 2006 and have played an integral roll in producing SoJam since 2004, including serving as Executive
Producer in 2007. I was also one of three members of the Sing II selection committee.
Personal Information: I am married to the most beautiful girl in the world - Susan
Hines. We have two dogs, Kali and Casey (Shepherd/Chow mix and Yellow Labrador Retriever,
respectively) that we love very much, and often schedule our lives around :-) I love using smiley
faces. Susan and I are in the midst of building our dream home in Wilmington, NC, where we plan to
start a family sometime in the next 2-3 years. Susan works for a pharmaceutical research company,
and I own two business - Liquid 5th Productions and CustomWired (a high-end custom home entertainment company).
