Dave Sperandio
Position: Founder
Location: Durham, NC
Musical Background: Since I was 7 years old, I have been involved in a wide variety
of instrumental and vocal performances, including musical theater, cabaret, and multiple All-State
and National choirs. My primary instrument is voice, but I also play the guitar, euphonium, and white
keys on the piano. During my time as an undergraduate at UNC, I participated in numerous choirs and
smaller ensembles and sang for four years with the Clef Hangers, serving as the group's musical director for two. Subsequently, I
was a member of vocal tonic for several years
and currently perform/workshop with the CARA-winning group transit. I founded diovoce, an
a cappella production company, in 2000 and have had client appearances on numerous "best-of"
compilations, including over 30 on the BOCA, CAMO, Voices Only, and 'Sing' series. Most recently,
I partnered with fellow producers James Gammon, Tat Tong, and James Cannon to form
VocalSource, which represents the largest and
most comprehensive network of vocal music studios in the world.
Personal Information: I graduated in 1997 from the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill with a degree in vocal performance. In addition to my work with diovoce and VocalSource, I
founded the AACI in 2003, along with the SoJam A Cappella Festival and the internationally acclaimed
'Sing' vocal compilation CD. I'm a huge sucker for Indian food, Family Guy, Newcastle, and
Carolina Basketball.
